Website

The Safe@School website is a combination resource centre and teacher training module, created by OTF and COPA to promote the prevention of bullying in schools. The website is composed of three main sections:

About Safe@School identifies the project partners and the main components of our bullying prevention project.

The Resources section contains a listing of useful websites, books and other materials on bullying prevention gathered by OTF and COPA.  These have been organized into four sections for easy use:  Professional Resources, Resources for Classroom Use and Student Use, Community Interest Resources, and a sample listing of the Ministry of Education Registry of bullying prevention resources.

The e-learning Teacher Training Module provides current information about the latest research on, and best practices for, assessing and preventing bullying in the school utilizing COPA's approach to prevention education as the foundation.  The Teacher Training Module became available in September 2007, and is open to teachers and other school staff.

The Teacher Training Module identifies appropriate intervention strategies as well as ways to establish healthy communication throughout the school.  A section on steps to change explains ways to move through specific stages in planning for and implementing bullying prevention programs. A further section contains methods to integrate bullying prevention strategies into the curriculum along with sample surveys to allow schools to assess their individual school climates and monitor the success of their intervention strategies.

Individual school reports based on the CD-ROM e-learning materials are filed and posted within the website module.  These reports are available to schools as resources for modification and updating of program implementation and for other schools to use as a reference.
